You will be surrounded by centuries of history everywhere you go. Pézenas has managed to retain all of the charm of a small medieval town, whilst also offering wonderful restaurants, cafes, boutiques and antique shops. The Mediterranean beaches are just 25 mins away and you are surrounded by the Languedoc vineyards in all directions.
Pezenas is a historic town with a population of about 8,000 people. It is in the heart of the Languedoc region of the South of France, a vast wine making area. The town has several bakeries and shops within easy walking distance of the house. There is a well stocked Carrefour supermarket for larger shopping expeditions. The Saturday market is nothing short of fabulous and a must for anyone who loves Mediterranean food.
Pezenas´s historical center, has many attractions. Here you will find dozens of artisan crafts shops, little boutiques, restaurants, bars, a cinema, a theatre and many festivals throughout the year. Pezenas is also home to over 40 antique shops.
The Mediterranean coast is just 20 mins drive away and other local attractions include the famous Canal du Midi, the Etang de Thau (a salt water lake that produces the best Oysters and Mussels in France), the famous castle at Carcassonne, ancient cities such as Montpellier, Beziers and Narbonne and numerous beach resorts (Vias Plage, Cap d`Agde and Marseillan Plage). The Languedoc is also home to the largest wine region of France, with some excellent local vineyards where you can sample wine and buy direct from the producer.
There is a TGV train station in Beziers and Agde. Regular bus services run from Pezenas to both towns.
